Performance Settings

Physics Pro has many settings which you can change. Settings affect gameplay, performance, or both. To help you get the best performance, you can choose from one of four presets:

  • Performance

  • Balanced

  • Detailed

  • Ultra

Choosing the right preset is important: Not every device will be equipped to work well with every preset. When you add Physics Pro to your world, it will automatically select the optimal preset for your device.

If your device cannot keep up, ragdolls might be frozen in mid-air so that the rest of the game can continue to run smoothly. Lowering settings with the “Impacts performance” label can reduce this from happening.

If you don’t want to use a preset, you can of course change individual settings as well.

Ragdoll Settings

Enable Ragdolls Physics

Toggle Ragdoll physics on or off

Ragdoll Entities

Choose the type of entities that are allowed to ragdoll. Choose from:

  • Players Only

  • Mobs Only

  • Players And Mobs

Ragdoll Quality

Impacts performance

Change the overall quality and detail of the ragdoll simulation. Choose from:

  • Performance

  • Balanced

  • Detailed

Ragdoll disappear effect

The visual effect that plays when a ragdoll despawns. Choose from:

  • None

  • Poof

Moving Ragdoll limit

Impacts performance

The maximum number of moving ragdolls that can be present at any given time.

  • Ranges from 0 - 50

  • Set to 0 for no limit

Does not include static ragdolls, since they require far fewer resources

Ragdoll Lifetime

Use the ragdoll lifetime slider to set how long (in seconds) the ragdoll stays before despawning.

  • Ranges from 1 - 300

Advanced Ragdoll Settings

Global Ragdoll Limit

The maximum amount of ragdolls (moving or not) that can be present at any given time.

  • Ranges from 0 - 50

  • Set to 0 for no limit

Ragdoll on environmental death

Impacts performance

Allow mobs to ragdoll when dying to environmental causes (fall-damage, lava, etc).

Could cause performance issues with mob farms.

  • Toggleable

Ragdoll MSPT budget

The time (in milliseconds) that the game is allowed to spend on ragdolls each tick. While this threshold is exceeded, ragdolls will be frozen to prevent the game from slowing down any further.

  • Ranges from 0 - 50

  • Set to 0 to disable

Ragdoll Framerate

Impacts performance

The number of frames, or steps that should be computed each second — more frames result into smoother ragdolls.

  • Ranges from 10 - 20

Ragdoll idle sensitivity

Impacts performance

To save resources, idle ragdolls are made static. This setting controls how sensitive this mechanic is to subtle movements that might prevent a ragdoll from going idle. Choose from:

  • Sensitive

  • Optimized

Smoother death transitions

Makes the transition between a life and death more seamless. Disable if experiencing issues with mobs, not taking damage or not dropping loot.

  • Toggleable

Reduce block clipping

Impacts performance

Whether to perform additional steps to reduce the likelihood of ragdolls clipping through blocks.

  • Toggleable

Block collision quality

Impacts performance

Controls the level of detail in block collisions. Setting this to ‘performance’ will treat all blocks as solid blocks. Choose from:

  • Performance

  • Standard

  • Detailed

Item Settings

Enable Item Physics

Toggle item physics on or off

Item physics mode

Impacts performance

How to achieve item physics. ‘Animated’ uses animations to create realistic-looking item behavior, while ‘Simulated’ simulates real physics for the best results.

  • Animated

  • Simulated

Item amount limit

The maximum amount of physics items that can be present at any given time — will fall back to vanilla items when exceeded.

  • Ranges from: 0 - 1080

  • Set to 0 for no limit.

Play ground impact sounds

Whether physics items should make sounds when landing on blocks.

This setting has no effect when ‘Item physics mode’ is set to ‘Animated’

  • Toggleable

Can punch items

Whether players can send recently dropped physics items flying by punching them.

This setting has no effect when ‘Item physics mode’ is set to ‘Animated’

  • Toggleable

Advanced Item Settings

Simulated item limit

The maximum amount of physics items that can be actively simulated at any given time. Will fall back to animations when exceeded.

Set to 0 for no limit. This setting has no effect when ‘Item physics mode’ is set to ‘Animated’.

Explosion Settings

Enable Explosion Physics

Toggle explosion physics on or off

Exploding block limit

Impacts performance

The maximum amount of exploding blocks that can fly through the air at any given time.

  • Set to 0 for no limit.

Advanced Explosion Settings

Exploding block chance

The chance an exploded block will be launched away instead of disappearing.

  • Ranges from: 0 - 100

Exploding block minimum

The amount of blocks that a single explosion can launch away with a hundred percent chance — this helps ensure that no explosions look underwhelming.

  • Ranges from: 0 - 100
